Shape Yourself in a Belt

I know -  I have been MIA for a minute now but I m backkkkkkkkkkkkk.

Today's post is a request from one of my good friends and it’s about Belts.

Some history;
Belts have been primarily associated with male clothing from the 17th century but both sexes used them on and off depending on current fashion.
In most of my posts you probably notice how I always talk about body types - but learning what your own personal body type is, is very important for been able to dress yourself appropriately and this is true for when choosing the right belt for your shape; so here we go

Pear Shape/Hour Glass

If you have a pear shape or any shape that is a bit hippy you really want to wear something that has a waistline in it and if it doesn’t, you want to wear a belt that shows off your waist - so a cinched waist belt would be appropriate in this case

If you have a post baby belly - or just a big stomach a wide belt around the middle of your waist actually slims down your stomach

Belts for Short Torsos

Short torso women want to look longer and leaner - you want to wear a belt that is the same color as your outfit. A different belt color will give the illusion of cutting your torso in half.

Belts for Skinny Frames

A medium sized or thin belt will keep your body in proportion for the skinny ladies. Thin belts look great with tailored pants with a tucked in blouse

Still, don’t always listen to me - no matter your body type still experiment with different widths and styles of belts - Rules are meant to be broken

The ever classic or common Hermes belt - what do you say?

European Invasion

Any female who has ever shopped for clothes in the UK or Europe in general will know these super high street fashion staples (which I just love) - and be excited they are coming to the States. ( My UK/European  readers sorry – will definitely post something more universal next week)

MNG by Mango - JC Penny

This collection that debut at the end of August in select JCP stores is a popular Spanish -based fashion chain similar to Zara or a high end H&M. MNG by Mango offers career and casual women’s sports wear as well as handbags, accessories and footwear. Currently the line is available in 77 JC Penny stores and is currently available at jcp.com. By fall 2011 they will expand the line to 600 stores around the country.
I have already checked out the line in person and was not too impressed with the items they carry - its not a good representation of the real mango and besides there was no item that I eagerly longed for – for MNG I can wait and be patient enough till some of their stuff goes on sale - And by me saying that -  it means a lot because when it comes to cuteness I have no self control so I would have definitely bought something  if there was anything worthy.

So as you can see from the pictures nothing cute worthy

French Connection - Sears

Sears is teaming up with French Connection (FCUK) to launch UK Style by French Connection which will be a new line of men, women and children clothing and accessories

The new line will launch in 500 Sears stores and sears.com in early 2011.

Also I am loving their prices starting from $10 and up - which is way cheaper than the original FCUK

Next - Sears

Sears is now carrying clothing from Next one of UK's largest fashion e-tailers. The Next for Sears’s collection includes fashion forward pieces for men, women and children including accessories and shoes. Sizes are also available for my petite, tall and plus size fashionistas.

Topshop

Topshop, New York opened late last year and currently they are in the works of opening a second store in Chicago.
Now although I haven’t been to the actual store in New York they do have a designated US website with $10 flat shipping - now for the bad new - its not cheappp

$400 - Love this peek a boo pleat trench coat

Till next time my dears - remain in a fashion state of mind.

Boots, Booties, Peep Toe Boots, Over the Knee Boots - OOOO Just Boots in General

Many of last fall's styles are still going strong this year - such as this week's subject - BOOTSSSSS (well boots are always on trend for the fall) - but particularly the peep toe booties, and the over the knee boots.

Over the Knee Boots

Hot last year and coming again for round 2 is the over the knee boot  (OTK)- the perfect pair should hit about an inch above your knees and for hip coverage like I have said before make sure you wear a top that covers your booty. The best way to achieve a seamless look with the OTK is if paired with  a pair of jeans, leggings or a sweater dress.
The OTK has gotten a bad rap before for looking a little bit hookerish - but not any more - so whether flat or 5 inch heel tall boot go ahead and strut your thang with these boots.
The OTK can be rocked with sexiness and sophistication so don’t shy away from this boot this season.

Peep Toe Booties

For my fashionistas who feel that the OTK might be too clunky or weighty the ideal boot would be the peep toe bootie. Slightly heavier than a pair of pump the peep toe bootie still have a sexier, more flattering silhouette than the traditional ankle boot. This look also goes with dresses and leggings.

Based on my informal survey from walking around the mall some women apparently believe that our toes should only be peeping out of pumps and not booties - what do you think?

Enjoy some pictures of some boots below.

Till next time my dears remain in a fashion state of mind :)
